Weddington High School
Originally from New Hampshire, Ms. Norton received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Western Carolina University in 2018. Ms. Norton began her professional career in Rowan County, NC as the Director of Bands for Salisbury HS, a post that she held for three years. In 2021, Ms. Norton assumed the Director of Bands position at Weddington HS in Union County, NC. Under her direction, the Weddington Band program continues to give students the highest quality of education in the performing arts.

Mekel Rogers
Mekel Rogers has been teaching middle school concert bands in Union County, North Carolina since 1995. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Appalachian State University, a charter member of the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, the founding conductor of the Union Symphony Youth Orchestra. Mekel’s compositions for concert band have been performed internationally and are published on the FJH label. Mekel also serves as a guest clinician and adjudicator at various honor band clinics and concert band festivals. Mekel was inducted into the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) in 2008 and is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). He received the South Central District Bandmasters Association (SCDBA) Award of Excellence in 2016.
